Spencer's 3rd year to wrestle & I'm getting use to it. He started wrestling his freshman year with no prior experience. I never thought I would have a child wrestle. Quinn & Spencer have always played team sports (football, basketball & baseball) so this was a new experience for Spencer to play an individual sport.
I knew nothing about the sport... only they wear tight leotards and spit a lot!
Well, Spencer is doing great! He enjoys it a lot and is humble, kind and has the best sportsmanship when he wrestles. It's taken me a couple of years to watch him with both eyes open instead of having one eye covered by my hand and peeking through with the other. Now that I dare look with both eyes... I see what kind of wrestler he is. Spencer always smiles when he wrestles. No, it's not a smile that looks like "uggggg" this is hard... he really smiles. When he is pinning a guy he looks up at the referee, with his big smile, to see when he will call it. I know they can win by points, still not sure what you call it... but Spencer's very good at playing cat & mouse with his opponent and very fast and quick. It's funny to watch. I admire Spencer for his endurance and will to win with kindness.
This past Saturday they had a invitational tournament (15 different schools) and he took home a 3rd place medal. He did really well and we are proud of him!
