Wrestling...

Wrestling is so hard for me to watch! Saturday, Spencer had a big tournament which lasted all day and into the evening. His first match he pinned the guy in 20 seconds, his second match he was headbutted with a result of a broken nose. I watched in fear as Spencer finished up the match. I'm not a baby when I watch my children do sports, but when you see your son being headbutted and no penalty was called on his opponent, it gets a little frightening. Spencer is bleeding badly from his nose and mouth, the medics put gauze up his nose to stop the bleeding and clean him up as everyone looks on and is put back in to finish. That's hard for anyone (but the coaches) to watch, I though Alexis was going to cry. I was about to cry!
As a mother, you know when something is wrong with your child. You can read their body language and know what's going on without speaking to them. I could see Spence in a lot of pain. I could see he was having a hard time standing up after being headbutted. Spencer just kept on going after they cleaned up all the blood... goes back in for more... they stop the match again to clean up more of his blood.
After it was over, he sat down on the floor with his teammates and I could tell he was not himself. I motioned him to come over to me. He felt very sleepy and was very confused. He just laid back on me and rested until his next match. He still had 3 more matches to finish. As time went on his nose swelled up even more and it was pretty cricked. Spencer finished out the day and all his matches. His 3rd match he pinned the guy in 56 seconds. All in all... he won 2 and lost 3. I'm very proud of him under the circumstances.
This morning I took him to the doctor... they took an x-ray and sure enough, he had broken his nose. He goes to a specialist (ENT) tomorrow morning to see if they can reset it back into place or let us know what else they may need to do.

OUCH!
